Meet Jodi

Jodi is a displaced Appalachian and seasoned racial/gender justice activist organizer intentionally holding space/disrupting time/interrupting the CIS system on Tongva-Gabrellano lands (Los Angeles, CA) for over 17 years. She is a seasoned grassroots organizer and activist who has fought tirelessly for collective liberation. Jodi is a fully licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) with over 20 years of experience working in mental health and wellness. Her practice, Abolition is Healing, seeks to interrupt the CIS-het, white supremacist, and carceral logics of mental health by offering healing spaces rooted in community, interdependence, and collective care. She envisions a world where healing is accessible and affirming for marginalized and systems-impacted individuals and communities.

I created Abolition is Healing with the vision-dream of providing culturally responsive, gender affirming mental health care for marginalized and systems-impacted individuals and communities. I root into accountability and transparency in my work. I reject the hierarchy, paternalism, and carcerality that have been primary features of mental health. By naming humanness, by claiming identity and holding space unconditionally.
